“Enlarge the place of your tent,
and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out;
do not hold back; lengthen your cords
and strengthen your stakes.
For you will spread abroad to the right and to the left,
and your offspring will possess the nations
and will people the desolate cities.”
Is 54 v 2,3
Why a tent, Lord?
Tents aren’t practical.
They’re cold.
They’re hot.
The seating is uncomfortable.
The lighting is terrible.
How could we worship you?
Where do we plug in?
No power?
Worship without juice?
How is that suppose to happen?
Where do we hang the screens?
And how do we control the light?
And there’s a pole in the way.
Worship from behind a pole?
Come on.
We want undistracted worship.
Then there’s the set-up
and the take-down – what a pain.
Who wants to do that?
And on a Sunday, before the game.
Tent investments?
Really!?
Have you ever tried to sell a used tent?
And who wants to say they belong to a tent?
We need facilities.
You want to start a movement, God?
Need buildings.
Enlarge the place of your church,
and let the walls of your facilities be built out;
do not hold back; lengthen your beams
and strengthen your columns.
And let the movement begin.
If you build it
they will come.
Tents?
Get real, God.

Tom – You have described life on the south campus very well – while we have a building – we do have to set up and tear down our “church” every Sunday. We are starting our 4th year and God does not seem to be in any hurry to give us a permanent place to rest! Makes one realize what is really important!
